Materials & Compliance
Real English Pewter
All Alchemy pewter jewelry is crafted using genuine English Pewter, the highest grade of pewter available.
English Pewter is a high-quality alloy composed primarily of tin, combined with copper and approved trace elements. Historically, pewter contained lead; however, modern English Pewter is entirely lead-free and is widely recognized as a safe, durable and semi-precious metal, valued second only to silver.
We use English Pewter because it:
- Allows exceptional detail and definition
- Is durable and long-lasting
- Is safer and harder to craft than inferior alloys
- Ages beautifully with wear
Some manufacturers use the term “pewter” to describe lower-grade alloys that may contain lead or other impurities. Alchemy does not use these materials.
Our pewter conforms to BS EN 611-1:1995 standards.
Allergy & Safety Compliance
All Alchemy pewter jewelry is:
- Nickel-free
- Lead-free
- Cadmium-free
Our materials are fully compliant with:
- California Proposition 65
- EU REACH Regulation (EU) 494/2011
- European standard BS EN 1811:2011 (Nickel Release)
Alchemy jewelry is worn comfortably by the vast majority of customers. As with all traditional jewelry metals (including silver and gold), individual skin chemistry may vary.
